About the site
![]()
Welcome to TheCastros.org - a website that
celebrates our family history and shares our lives and heritage. The
website is now hosted by my WinISP (a perk through my job) and serves as
a "webhome" for any member of the Castro family (either by marriage or
birth). We have a couple of "editors" on staff (Glenda
Castro and Stephanie
Castro) who also deserve some credit and help me keep the
site up to date and as grammatically correct as possible.
We do our best to protect the privacy and wishes of our family and only present pictures and information approved for public viewing. If you ever find an image or information on the website that you object to, please contact me and we'll take the material off as quickly as possible. While the website is publicly "open", we do use encrypted communication when it comes to e-mail and private locations on the server. No information will be displayed that is not already available through public record - if you are ever approached through e-mail asking for private information, please contact us immediately.
So What's Different?
When I changed the internet service at my house, I was no longer able to host this website locally. Fortunately, my work stepped in and will be providing free web hosting for us. There are ups and downs to this, but the important thing is we're back online. Here is an update to how the site has been affected.
History: Our family history will remain unaffected.
Photo Gallery:
Stephanie has gotten fairly addicted (she uses the word "active") on FaceBook updating it with pictures before I can even get them off the camera. Rather than fight it, I've decided to pull down the photo gallery for now. I'll get the gallery back up when we have the next family reunion.
C-Mail: C-Mail is fully back and online! If you would like to have an '@thecastros.org' account, let us know and you'll get an account with 5 GB of storage, contact management, calendaring, tasks, and RSS feeds - all with up to the minute virus and spam filtering. It can be accessed through a web browser, Outlook 2007, or Windows Mobile Device (full push support via Microsoft Active Synch).
High Speed Access: We are now directly connected to the internet by very high speed lines (the same lines Microsoft Corporate uses) meaning no more delays downloading images and webpages!
